IPM’s senior management led a two-day workshop entitled “Renewable Energy Projects and Technology Financing” at the University of Cambridge Judge Business School (“CJBS”), targeted at the school’s leading MBA and MFin candidates.

The workshop was hosted by the CJBS Clean Energy Group and organised by its Committee Member, Sheela Sanei, and aimed to introduce participants to some of the key concepts of investing in renewable energy projects and technologies.

IPM’s presentations were led by Marian Bocek, Gary Neville, and Andrew Garman, who between them covered the global deal trends in renewable energy projects and technologies, key financing considerations, and some of the technical skills required to analyse and execute investments in this sector. The workshop included a practical real-world investment case study, which was used to demonstrate how financial modelling and structuring techniques are applied in the investment process. Another highlight of the event was hearing from Igor Kocis, CEO of GA Drilling, one of IPM’s most innovative portfolio companies, who joined IPM at the workshop to share his experiences of founding a company with significant disruptive potential in the geothermal energy market.

The workshop attracted a lot of interest from CJBS’ MBA and MFin candidates, whose active participation made for an interactive and well-received event. As Sheela Sanei noted, it was “the most polished and educational event” and was “packed with talent, sophistication, intelligence, and purpose”. Following the success of 2017’s workshop, IPM looks forward to future collaborations with the CJBS Clean Energy Group.
